Meet your Guide

Your guide, Gwydion (Gwyds), has over 25 years experience working as an Outdoor activity instructor, 10 years experience in developing outdoor mountaineering and orienteering activities in Snowdonia and is a fully certified Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing instructor.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL

  • Check-in from 4pm (If you wish, you may drop your bags off earlier and have a self guided hike on our local trails - OS maps available on reception)

DAY 2 - CADER IDRIS

​At 893 m (2,930 ft), Cader (or Cadair) Idris is the highest mountain in southern Snowdonia and is situated behind The Old Vicarage.

​

  • Meet Gwydion at Breakfast (9:00am), and discuss the upcoming day.

  • Travel to Cader Idris (Dol Idris, Minffordd Car Park)

  • Hike the Minffordd path to summit, descend via Mynydd Moel/Moelfryn

  • Return to The Old Vicarage for afternoon tea/coffee/cake and discuss plans for Day 2/3 with your guide.

DAY 3 - ARENIG

​Arenig Fawr is the highest member of the Arenig range near Bala

​

  • Sit down for breakfast at 7:30

  • Depart at 8:30 and meet at mountain/pre arranged meeting point 

  • Hike Aran or Arennig 

  • Discuss options for tomorrow and agree meeting point and times

  • Return for some homemade cake in the lounge

DAY 4 - RHINOGAU

​The Rhinogau are popular with hillwalkers looking for a more isolated, wilder walking experience and are just north of Dolgellau

​

  • Breakfast at 7:30

  • Check-out and leave bags securely at The Old Vicarage

  • Meet at mountain/pre arranged meeting point

  • Hike Rhinog Fawr, Rhinog Fach or Diffwys

  • Return to The Old Vicarage to collect bags. 

 

(Option to stay a further night at a reduced rate - please enquire when booking)

What will I need?

  • Your own car to get to meeting points - we can arrange shuttles for extra cost, please enquire when booking

  • A moderate level of fitness, these are mountains, not hills.

  • Good/suitable walking shoes/boots

  • Suitable clothing (not jeans) – layers work best

    • Warm layer – fleece jacket(s)

    • Suitable trousers

    • Hat and gloves

    • Spare warm layer to be carried

    • Waterproof jacket and trousers

  • Rucksack (min 25l)

  • Cost of evening meals is not included in price (we can pre-book these, and taxis, for you)

  • Packed lunches are available at £15 per head or at a negotiated rate if booking in bulk for large bookings
