We work with one of the best tour guides in the area, Steve Beech from Wheelism, to bring you guided off-piste rides that we love, to match a range of skills.  

 The Old Vicarage has been awarded the Visit Wales Welcome Award for cyclists/MTB.

Don't forget we also offer, mountain bike hire, e-bike hire, professional on-site bike servicing, in-room sports massage by qualified sports massage therapist, bike wash facilities (free), e-bike battery charging (free), secure bike storage (free).

Steve Beech has been riding MTB for the last 30 years, coaching for the last 14 years, and ran the bike shop at Coed y Brenin for 8 years. 

​

A British Cycling certified MTB Coach with Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Award, Cytech Level 2 mechanic and DT Swiss Wheelbuilder certificates to boot, he’s got all the skills and experience to ensure you get the most progression from your day on the trails.

OFF PISTE DYFI
Grade: Red-Black 

SOUTH MACH

Grade: Blue

A guided off-piste day in the Dyfi. Up to 5 riders will be picked up from The Old Vicarage and taken to the far side of the Dyfi for a point-to-point ride taking in some of the best steep off-piste Dyfi trails.

 

Rides will be between 25km to 35km and involve between 1000-1500m of climbing. 

 

A big day out for experienced riders (happy with red and black graded trail-centre trails) 

 

from £65 per rider (minimum 2 riders) includes packed lunch

A guided ride in the hills south of Machynlleth - more of a cross-country type feel to this ride with less steep and less technical descents, but still with plenty of climbing. 

 

Rides can be tailored to suit from 20km-50km. Expect big climbs and fantastic views over the Cambrian mountains. 

 

Up to 5 riders will be picked up and returned to the Old Vicarage. For more than 5 riders you'd meet your guide in Machynlleth.

OFF PISTE CYB
Grade: Blue-Black

Coed y Brenin is the UK's original trail centre with a mix of trails for all abilities. It also boasts some excellent riding further away from the trail centre and this is the focus for this trip. 

25-35km of cross-country, technical riding with big climbs (1000-1500m) and awesome descents. 

 

Riders should be happy with red/black graded trails. For up to 5 riders you will be collected and returned to the Old Vicarage. For more than 5 riders you’ll meet in Coed y Brenin.

No Bike? No problem

  • If you take up a guided ride our hard tail mountain bike hire rate is reduced by £5!

  • We also offer e-bike hire. Please ask for prices
