Your railway for a day
Since the first stone was laid, The Old Vicarage has been intrinsically linked to Corris Railway. She stood proud by the railway line, looking down to the track as slate and passengers would be taken down the Dulas Valley.
In 1948, following the privatisation of the railways, the Corris line was closed and dismantled. Rev. John Rees Jones & Rev John Benson Davies of The Old Vicarage were passionate objectors to its closure, but alas the valley would fall silent until 1971.
In 1971, the same year The Vicarage was sold by the church and became a pub, The Corris Railway society was able to get the first part of the railway back in working order, a ‘demonstration’ track. And so the ‘modern’ era of the Vicarage, which went on to become a guest house in 2014, has closely followed the preservation era of The Corris Railway.
Today we proudly partner with Corris Railway to help to support the continued efforts of the volunteers who keep this piece of history alive.

YOUR EXPERIENCE
The train, station, and track are yours for the day.
The Corris Railway team will provide full and detailed training on how to fire up and drive the train, and perform any of the popular roles on the railway.
Coffee, tea and soft drinks will be available throughout the experience day
Your package will also include one years membership to the Corris Railway.

All of the guest areas at The Old Vicarage will be exclusively yours throughout your booking.

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL

16:00 - 19:00 - Check-in

18:00 - 19:00 - An opportunity to catch-up with homemade cake in the lounge

19:00 - 20:00 - Some of the members of Corris Railway will come and meet you to discuss your experience day.
DAY 2 - EXPERIENCE DAY

08:00 - Option for some or all of the party to help with the lighting up of the engine, we’ll shuttle you down to the station

09:00 - You’ll return to The Vicarage for a three course cooked breakfast

Collect your packed lunch (if on the Experience Holiday)

10:00- We’ll take you back to the station to continue your training

Stop for lunch

16:00 - Return to The Old Vicarage for afternoon cake and get ready to head out for dinner (OPTIONAL: for full house bookings (4 rooms) you can choose to add on a private chef package for an evening meal at The Old Vicarage - adn. cost)
DAY 3 - FAREWELL

Balance is due at point of booking, which is fully refundable up to 14 days before check-in date. Payable within 48hours of booking. Subject to availability T&Cs still apply.
Did you know?
We also offer 'lunch on the train'. Discounted rate for packed lunch and a ticket on the Corris railway for £20, as a bolt on to an existing booking.
What will I need?
As the railway is classed as an industrial environment some PPE is required

A pair of hard capped boots is the only mandatory item (just ask if you need us to recommend a good supplier)

Overalls or some means of protecting clothing is recommended

Cost of evening meals is not included in price (unless specified)

All participants must be over 18 years old and reasonably fit.
We ask participants to certify that they have not consumed alcohol or drugs in the 12 hour period prior to arrival for the experience day
